Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where a weekly topic is given and you pick your top ten things that fall into that topic! This week’s topic is my most anticipated book releases for the first half of 2020! Check out my previous Top Ten Tuesday’s here!
I don’t know, this is probably just me, but I honestly don’t feel like there are a ton of books coming out this year that I’m ridiculously excited about. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few that sound really interesting! But I feel like a lot of the hyped releases coming up are all sequels…and tend to be sequels of books I have yet to read (insert facepalm here. I’m working on them, I swear!).
So…pause, while I go check out Goodreads to see if I can find some new releases to get myself excited about, heh.
….Annnnnnd, we’re back! So, here are my (tentatively) most anticipated book releases for the first half of 2020!
1. Tweet Cute by Emma Lord
Publication date: January 21, 2020. This just seems like such a cute, fun YA contemporary romance! I need a little more fluffy romance in my TBR, honestly. I’ve been focusing so much on catching up on fantasy and sci-fi reads I’ve recently missed out on. This will be a nice little break from that!
2. Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim
Publication date: January 7, 2020. A gender swapped retelling of the Count of Monte Cristo? YAAAAS. That story was one of the first classics I ever truly enjoyed. To be fair, it was the movie that hooked me and not the book, but the book was great, too! Although, for brevity’s sake, watching the movie is wayyyy faster. Regardless, I’m pumped for this!
3. The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa De La Cruz
Publication date: February 4, 2020. ALL OF THE ASSASSIN’S. I don’t know why this is an appeal, I really don’t. But it sounds sexy and dangerous and there’s romance and…yeah, I’m here for all of that. Also, this is the woman who brought us Witches of East End, so that’s really all that needs to be said.
4. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
Publication date: March 3, 2020. Listen, this is a book. Written by Sarah J. Maas. Nothing more really needs to be said here, does it? Except now there’s Archangels. We just need to accept what the queen of YA(ish) fantasy romance gives to us and love it.
5. Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco
Publication date: March 3, 2020. There’s witches, Southeast Asian representation (holla), a Snow Queen, and a firebird. There’s a lot going on here, but I’m definitely intrigued. And that cover though.
6. Witches of Ash and Ruin by E. Latimer
Publication date: March 3, 2020 (This is a popular date, apparently). Okay, there is not a single thing about this that doesn’t sound epic. There are witches and Celtic mythology and gods and serial killers. I mean…the whole thing is dark and twisty and I’m so ready to get my hands on this book.
7. Deadly Curious by Cindy Anstey
Publication date: April 14, 2020. I adore some good historical fiction. Especially if there’s romance involved, which it kind of sounds like there might be. But more importantly, this is about a a girl in the 1800s in London that is trying to become a famous Bow Street Runner. I’m a sucker for procedurals and suspense, and I didn’t know that this existed but I’m so happy that I do now.
8. Hideaway by Nora Roberts
Publication date: May 26, 2020. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m absolute trash for anything Nora Roberts writes. Her standalones have a special place in my heart and for some reason, the ones she writes involving famous people, or people related to famous people, are PHENOMENAL to me (seriously, check out Public Secrets and River’s End, they’re SO GOOD). This book sounds similar to one of those, and I have no doubt it’s going to be just as awesome.
9. House of Dragons by Jessica Cluess
Publication date: May 12, 2020. This seriously sounds like The Hunger Games meets Game of Thrones and I’m not sure I need to say any more? There’s a varied cast of contestants from incredibly different backgrounds, and I think this is going to be epic.
10. The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon
Publication date: June 9, 2020. Another cute and fluffy, romance when you don’t expect it kind of story! This one is an adult romance, and it sounds like a fantastic story about a woman who finds herself after some asshole dates her and two other women at the same time. They band together and become friends (solidarity, yay!) and she finds love.
So there are my most anticipated book releases from the first half of 2020! What are you looking forward to this year? Are there a lot of new releases you’re looking forward to? Let me know in the comments!
