Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where a weekly topic is given and you pick your top ten things that fall into that topic! This week’s topic is the favorite books I read in 2019! Check out my previous Top Ten Tuesday’s here!
This is going to be a hard one for me to narrow down. I read a lot of fantastic books this year, all across a wide variety of genres. I’m also absolutely going to cheat here and group some of them into series, or this post would be over before it even begins!
1. The Illuminae Files
I had so many doubts, seriously, because of the formatting, but I’m soooo glad I read it anyway! I honestly binge-read through these three books in a week, and I have no regrets. The narrative totally holds up through the chat files and documents, and I had such an emotional hangover when I finally finished.
2. A Court of Mist and Fury/ A Court of Wings and Ruin
I started ACOTAR in December of last year, but I started the next year on the right foot because ACOMAF and ACOWAR are hands down my favorite books in the series and became some of my favorite books of ALL TIME. Seriously, I’m obsessed. I know everyone says that, but it’s for a reason. Honestly.
3. The All Souls Trilogy
My Facebook had been blowing up for WEEKS about the TV show on Sundance, so I finally watched all eight episodes…in one day. I will have heart eyes for Matthew forever, honestly. Obviously I had to read the books after that, and they shot to the top of my favorites list. I can’t WAIT for the next season to come out.
4. Year One
I had put off reading this for a while because it sounded so different from her usual books, but that definitely works in this series’ favor. I haven’t gotten the chance to read the third book yet, but I know it’s going to be just as amazing as the first two.
5. Long Shot
This was a recommendation as a favorite author from one of my favorite BookTuber’s, Chelsea Palmer, and WOAH. This book took me on a ride. You can see my review for it here, but needless to say it blew my mind. I’ll need to be in the right mindset for a re-read though, because this book destroyed me.
Another BookTube recommendation, I DEVOURED this book. I keep talking myself in and out of spending money on the sequel, but I haven’t seen it on BookOutlet or any of my Facebook groups yet, but I am SO READY to read the rest of this series.
7. Renegades Series
I desperately need to start Supernova, which I have on audiobook. I read Renegades and Archenemies back to back and had to wait for the third book. The powers and characters in this are so cool, and you can’t help but wish they were real (I mean, Sketch? Come on, who doesn’t want that?).
8. Throne of Glass Series
I mentioned before that this first book was not really for me, and I came close to the end before I DNF’d it and couldn’t do it anymore. Then I heard so many reviews about how it got better, and I binge-read through the rest of the series. I’m currently poised to start Kingdom of Ash…when I can talk myself into letting the whole thing end. I’m not there yet though.
9. An Ember in the Ashes
What an incredible first book to this series. Laia really comes into her own, and seeing her and Elias together, trying to do the right things in such horrible situations….sigh. I bought the next two books in the series, and they are absolutely on my TBR for 2020. I can’t wait to see where their story takes them.
10. 10 Blind Dates
This was such a cute read! It was a book club book for December, and I expected it to be a fun, fluffy winter YA romance. Not only did it deliver, but it gave me all of the feels coming from a huge Italian family myself. Yes, we really do tend to be all up in each others’ business. And a LOT of food is involved, always. I adored this book, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a yearly, Christmas-y read for me from now on.
So those are my favorite books I read in 2019! What do you think of my choices? What are some of your 2019 picks? Let me know down in the comments!
