Time for my next Bookending Winter post! Today I’m using the prompt that is actually from December 2, “Reflection Time.” This prompt was created by Laurie @ Laurie’s Bookshelf, and here’s her explanation:
“December is here and that means it’s time to look back on the past year. How was your 2019 regarding books? Did you haul too many books? Did you have a great reading year? Too many (E)ARCs left? And did you pass your reading challenge? Furthermore, it’s time to look forward. What goals would you like to reach in the last month of 2019? Certain books you want to read before 2020 is upon us? Do you have reading goals for 2020? So, let’s reflect on your bookish 2019!”
My 2019 was…chaotic, to say the least. I usually set my Goodreads goal to 100, and rarely ever actually hit it, so this year I lowered it to 75…and read 109 (so far. Insert facepalm here). I spent the majority of the year reading as I could, mostly light and fluffy romances, while wedding planning and studying for my certification exam.
After the wedding, I discovered Booktube, and BookOutlet, and decided to bring this blog back to life because of my free time, such as it was. That did wonders for my reading this year, and really got me back on track.
I have DEFINITELY hauled too many books this year, but in my defense, I’ve fallen so far behind on newly released books that I’ve got several years of hyped books and series to catch up on. I’ve got an absolutely ridiculous book haul coming up (for several months, because BookOutlet had a Black Friday sale and a Boxing Day sale and…oof.) that I’m going to have to somehow break into reasonable posts, so…stay tuned, I guess?
I’m definitely behind on ARCs, although I’ve got another review coming in the next couple of days. I will say I’ve done better about requesting more when I don’t need them!
As far as 2020 goes, I think my goals are to do better about posting more regularly, reading more of the books I already own (I know, I know, I sound like every other book blogger and BookTuber out there), and do more book reviews!
There you have it! My 2019 “Reflection Time”! How did your 2019 reading goals go? Do you have any goals for 2020? See some of the book reviews I’ve done this year here!
